AVL Manufacturing invests $56M to open industrial power generator enclosure manufacturing facility in North Carolina
AVL Manufacturing has announced plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company, which produces custom industrial enclosures for large-format standby power generators, is investing $56 million into the project, creating more than 325 jobs.
The new facility will support production and assembly of generator enclosures designed for power redundancy, especially for data centers. These large metal casings integrate electric inputs, switchgear, and other components essential to supporting server infrastructure. In addition to data center applications, the enclosures serve industries such as automotive, automation, construction, and emergency management.
To support the project, AVL USA, Inc. will receive a performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund. This grant is tied to the creation of 122 jobs, with an average salary of $90,088—above the current Mecklenburg County average of $86,830. Companies receive no funds upfront and must meet job creation and investment benchmarks, with a required match from local governments.
