The expansion will double the company’s transformer production capacity in Goldsboro by 2030.

Prolec GE, a transformer solutions provider and joint venture between Xignux and GE Vernova, has announced plans to expand its transformer manufacturing facility in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The company, which produces medium power transformers for the North American grid, will invest $140 million into the project and create more than 330 new full-time production, maintenance, supervisory, and engineering jobs over the next three years.

The expansion includes the construction and outfitting of a new 144,000-square-foot building adjacent to the company’s existing facility. The new production line will be fully self-contained, with in-house core cutting, coil winding, assembly, and testing capabilities. The project will increase Prolec GE’s production by 200 units per year and is expected to double the company's manufacturing capacity in Goldsboro by 2030.

The expansion is supported by state and local grants and incentives, and the company also received a federal tax credit under the Advanced Energy Project Tax Credit Program.
