Walter Surface Technologies Acquires Hermes North America
Walter Surface Technologies announced December 2 that it had acquired Hermes North America. Walter, a Montreal-based company that offers abrasives, power tools, tooling, chemicals, safety and automated material removal products to industrial metalworkers, said Hermes would augment its existing abrasives business. Hermes supplies coated abrasive products to the metal and woodworking industries, and in a company statement, Walter said the purchase would augment its existing abrasives business, particularly in terms of belted sanding products.
Neither company disclosed the price of the sale. Walter noted in the announcement that the deal only entails Hermes’ North America operations: The company’s European Group will continue to operate independently, Walter said.

Tony Sarles, General Manager of Hermes North America, added: “Joining WALTER represents a new chapter of strength and stability for Hermes North America.
