Homanit invests $250M to build wood fiberboard manufacturing facility in South Carolina
Homanit, a European manufacturer of medium- and high-density wood fiberboards, has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Alcolu, South Carolina. The company, which produces wood fiberboards for the furniture, automotive, door, and coating industries, is investing $250 million into the project and will create 300 new jobs.
The new U.S. operation will be located at 1200 Spigner Road in Clarendon County. Once complete, the facility will produce wood fiberboards specifically for Homanit’s American customers. Operations are expected to begin in 2028.
To support the project, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits.
