Four manufacturers will begin expansion projects across Iowa totaling more than $62 million in planned investments. The projects, approved for assistance by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) board, will expand production capacity, add manufacturing technologies and create more than 300 new jobs at facilities in Des Moines, Independence, Wapello, and Webster City.

Electrical Power Products plans to expand its manufacturing campus in Des Moines, Iowa. The company, which manufactures engineered-to-order electrical power control and protection systems for utility, power infrastructure and data center customers, is investing $42 million in the project and expects to create 200 new jobs. The expansion will add approximately 420,000 square feet of fabrication, assembly and wiring space to increase manufacturing capacity. The project received $2.01 million in tax credits through Iowa's Business Incentives for Growth (BIG) program.

Geater Machining and Manufacturing plans to expand its facility in Independence, Iowa. The company, which provides precision machining and manufacturing services, is investing $16 million and plans to create 100 new jobs. The project includes construction of a 30,000-square-foot facility addition that will increase production capacity by approximately 33% to 40%. The board awarded $584,500 in tax credits through the BIG program.

S&J Tube plans to expand operations in Wapello, Iowa. The company, which manufactures roll-formed metal products, is investing $2.4 million to enhance its roll-forming capabilities, add additive manufacturing equipment and bring production of roll-form tooling in-house. The expansion is expected to create 10 new jobs, including seven incented positions. The board awarded $177,000 in tax credits through the BIG program.  

Webster City Custom Meats plans to expand its processing facility in Webster City, Iowa. The company, which processes meat products, is investing $2.5 million to install an automated bacon packaging line that will increase production capacity and improve packaging operations. The expansion is expected to create two new maintenance positions. The board awarded $39,000 in tax credits through the BIG program.
