JGB Brothers announces new $36 million South Carolina factory
JGB Brothers announced January 21 that it would spend $7 million on establishing a factory in Bamberg, South Carolina and create 40 jobs there. The company, a subsidiary of Poland-based InterFiber, produces food fiber for additives to human and pet food, cosmetics, building materials and pharmaceuticals.
In a statement, InterFiber President Jacek Bednarek said the factory would eventually receive at least $36 million in investments for “fully robotic production lines and an adjacent research and design facility, and that it would use locally-sourced agricultural product to produce its plant-based fiber. To establish the factory, the state’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded Bamberg County a $200,000 set-aside grant to build improvements in the area.
