Schenider Electric opens new electronics plant in Tennessee
Schneider Electric held a ribbon-cutting ceremony November 11 for the company’s new Mt. Juliet, Tennessee manufacturing plant. In a company statement, Schneider said the new factory was the first manufacturing facility on its campus there, as well as the first half of a planned two-part expansion there. The factory opened today, and the one to follow it, will both produce medium voltage products like insulated switchgears and solid insulation systems for infrastructure projects.
The company didn’t specify a cost for the new 500,000-square-foot factory, the planned 540,000 companion factory also planned for the site or the number of people expected to be employed at either. Earlier this year, Schneider announced it would be a part of its planned investments of over $700 million in the U.S. through 2027: Released in April, that plan called for a new factory in Mt. Juliet to “grow our presence in the medium voltage market and introduce new products to the U.S. market.”
In a statement, Aamir Paul, President of Schneider Electric’s North American operations, said the new plant would be necessary for AI and energy infrastructure. In recognition of the announcement taking place on veteran’s day, he also recognized the company’s veteran workforce.
