Whirlpool Corporation has announced plans to invest $300 million in its laundry manufacturing facilities in Clyde and Marion, Ohio. The company, which produces kitchen and laundry appliances, said the investment will create between 400 and 600 new jobs and support approximately 5,000 additional jobs outside the company.

Whirlpool Corporation’s Clyde facility, in operation since 1952, is the largest washing machine plant in the world. The Marion factory, which produces clothes dryers, recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of local manufacturing. Together, the facilities will support production of Whirlpool’s next generation of washers and dryers.

Approximately 80% of the company’s U.S. major appliance sales come from products made in its domestic factories, and 96% of the steel used in Whirlpool’s U.S. plants is sourced domestically. The company employs 20,000 people in the United States, including more than 14,000 at its 10 manufacturing plants.

Financial assistance from JobsOhio and tax credits from the State of Ohio will support workforce development and continued investments at the Clyde and Marion locations. These investments are subject to final approval of the financial assistance.
