This expansion brings Amgen’s total investment in Central Ohio to over $1.4 billion.

Amgen has announced plans to expand its biologic medicines manufacturing facility in Central Ohio. The company, which manufactures biologic medicines, will invest $900 million into the project, creating a total of 750 jobs.

The facility expansion builds on Amgen’s initial investment in the Columbus Region, where the company established a biomanufacturing site that created 400 jobs upon opening. The facility will enhance Amgen’s U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities, allowing it to better meet global demand for its biologic therapies. Ohio's skilled workforce and strategic location contributed to Amgen’s decision to further invest in the region.

What people are saying

In a recent quote, Robert A. Bradway, chairman and chief executive officer, Amgen, said, "Amgen has been a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of biologic medicines since 1988. Today's investment reinforces our ongoing commitment to expanding U.S. manufacturing and ensuring patients around the world have access to our innovative medicines. Ohio offers a supportive business climate, skilled workforce, and strategic location, making it an ideal choice for this next phase of our investment."

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine added, "Ohio has built a strong foundation for economic development, which has led companies like Amgen to see Ohio as a premier destination for growth. We are happy to see Amgen deepen its commitment to our state and look forward to the innovation and economic impact it will drive."
