Trina Solar invests $200 million to build solar photovoltaic manufacturing facility in Texas

Trina Solar has announced plans to build a solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing facility in Wilmer, Texas. The company will invest $200 million into the project, creating 1,500 new jobs for the surrounding area. The 1-million-square-foot facility will produce 5 GW of modules and source polysilicon. According to the company, the new facility will produce large power output Vertex modules using the 210mm large size wafer.

In a recent quote, Steven Zhu, president of Trina Solar US, said, “We have long had a vision to manufacture solar products in the United States, and we are proud of the jobs we are creating and the investment we are making in the Wilmer community. Trina’s goal in building this facility is to begin to create an ecosystem of American manufacturing that can serve the burgeoning U.S. solar market.”
