Solar manufacturer to build first U.S. production facility in Texas

The facility will have an initial capacity to manufacture 3 gigawatts (GW) of solar modules annually with a projected capacity of up to 5 GW by 2027.

Waaree Energies has announced plans to open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Brookshire, Texas. The company, which is India's largest solar PV module manufacturer, will invest $1 billion into the project over the next four years. The facility will have an initial capacity to manufacture 3 gigawatts (GW) of solar modules annually with a projected capacity of up to 5 GW by 2027. In addition, Waaree will build an integrated U.S.-made solar cell facility that is expected to be operational by 2025. The project will generate over 1,500 new jobs when the plant is at full capacity.  

In a recent quote, Waaree Chairman and Managing Director Hitesh Doshi said, "We are proud of this significant commitment by Waaree to U.S. domestic solar manufacturing. In partnership with a company of SB Energy's mission and stature, Waaree is fostering a solar manufacturing ecosystem in Texas, a state that has taken a leading position in clean energy manufacturing."
