Hyundai Motor Manufacturing invests $290 million to upgrade Alabama SUV plant

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing, LLC (HMMA) has announced plans to upgrade its plant in Montgomery, Alabama. The company will invest $290 million into the project, with $190 million designated for tooling and equipment upgrades. The facility will produce Hyundai’s fifth generation Santa Fe sport utility vehicles.

In a recent quote, HMMA President and CEO Ernie Kim, “Today, the legacy of the Santa Fe continues with HMMA investing $190 million dollars to prepare our assembly plant for the next generation of this popular SUV. An additional $100 million dollars will be invested to support ongoing production of the Tucson SUV and Santa Cruz Sport Adventure Vehicle.”
