Renewable America completes 1.9-MW commercial solar projects for food processing facilities in California
Renewable America completed a 1.9-MWdc solar project for Pearl Crop Inc. across facilities in Ripon, Linden, and Stockton, California. The company, which provides distributed energy resources, small utility-scale solar and storage projects, and community microgrids, developed and engineered the four-project portfolio for the food processing company’s operations.
The agreement includes four solar projects spanning three California locations. The Stockton facility, the largest site in the portfolio, is expected to meet 86% of its energy requirements through solar generation and deliver an estimated $230,000 in annual utility savings.
Renewable America served as both developer and engineering, procurement, and construction provider for the projects. The company completed the work before the rollout of Net Energy Metering 3.0, California’s solar compensation policy for utility customers, allowing Pearl Crop to secure Net Energy Metering 2.0 savings.
During project development, the company conducted roof inspections and evaluations to verify that the buildings could support the added weight of the solar arrays. The team also designed the installations to avoid shading from nearby structures and implemented measures to prevent roof leaks that could affect the almonds and walnuts processed at the facilities.
