Siemens invests $95M to expand low-voltage electrical products manufacturing facility in California

March 19, 2025
The new 100,000-square-foot facility will increase production of critical electrical products for the industrial, commercial, and construction sectors.

Siemens has opened a new 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Pomona, California. The company, which produces low-voltage electrical products such as switchboards and lighting panels, invested $95 million in this project, which will create 123 new jobs in the region.

The new facility, located adjacent to Siemens' legacy Electrical Products plant that has been serving California and the broader U.S. market since the 1970s, will expand Siemens’ capacity to meet growing demand in the industrial, commercial, and construction markets. The facility will feature sustainable construction and will be carbon neutral, with the aim of becoming the first LEED Gold-certified industrial building in Pomona. The building will also include a rooftop solar canopy, providing 32% of its total electricity needs through a photovoltaic system that produces 1,638 MWh of power annually.

Additionally, Siemens’ new hub will implement innovative technologies such as an all-electric powder coat paint line, EV chargers, advanced water and power metering, and a battery-energy storage system (BESS). A 5,000-square-foot outdoor community space will also be incorporated into the facility, showcasing local art commissioned by the city of Pomona.

In a recent quote, Andreas Matthé, CEO of Electrical Products Smart Infrastructure, Siemens AG, said, “The race is on to build new industrial facilities, data centers, and smart buildings globally. Siemens is investing in this future and the United States is an important market where we are experiencing unprecedented demand for our electrical products and see tremendous opportunity for continued growth.”

Barry Powell, Regional CEO of Electrical Products for Siemens Smart Infrastructure North America, added, “The low-voltage electrical products we produce provide the critical underpinnings for America’s growing industry and infrastructure. When examining our footprint in California, I’m proud that Siemens is both a pillar of the community, serving the area for more than 50 years, but also nimble enough to grow and modernize when our customers and the industry call for it.”
