The Georgia governor’s office announced February 4 that Dongwon Autopart Technology Co. will build a new auto parts factory near Swainsboro, Georgia, in Emanuel County. According to the state, the Korean auto parts manufacturer will spend $30 million on the plant and create 200 new jobs in the coming years. Hiring for the site is expected to begin this year, but no timeline was given for when the plant would become optional.

The new factory will build up Dongwon’s auto components business, which produces door frames, seat frames and battery frames for automotive OEMs. Dongwon’s new factory will add capacity alongside the company’s existing site in Hogansville, Georgia, and add to the company’s existing Southeastern workforce of about 500 employees.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Global Commerce team, the Emanuel County Development Authority, the Georgia Ports Authority, Georgia Power, and Georgia Quick Start all helped secure the factory, according to the governor’s office.

We remain committed to excellence and supplying internal and external customers with the highest quality products and service.”

“Georgia’s thriving automotive industry is creating new opportunities for Georgians statewide, no matter their zip code,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “We are excited for this project to bring new jobs to Emanuel County and see its impact on this community for years to come.”
