Dover Food Retail is relocating its manufacturing operations by moving its Sylmar, California operations to its existing Chesterfield, Virginia campus. The move, according to Governor Glenn Youngkin, will involve $20 million in Virginian investments and create 300 jobs building refrigerators and freezers for use in grocery stores.

The move will involve one of Dover’s brands, Anthony, moving closer to Hillphoenix, a similar company also owned by Dover. According to its website, Anthony currently has locations in Sylmar and Madison, Georgia; Hillphoenix, meanwhile, already has two Virginia locations, in Richmond and nearby Colonial Heights.

In a company statement, Anthony said its combined Virginia site will improve efficiency and impact about 400 jobs, “with some roles moving to Virginia.”

According to the office of Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin, the move was secured in part via Virginia’s Economic Development Partnership and a $900,000 grant from the Commonwealth Opportunity Fund for Chesterfield county.
