ATP Adhesives has announced plans to establish its first U.S. solvent-free adhesive manufacturing facility in Columbia, South Carolina. The company, which develops and produces solvent-free adhesive technologies, is investing $70 million in the project and creating 130 new jobs.

The new 127,000-square-foot plant will serve manufacturers in the U.S. and Canada with locally developed solvent-free adhesive tapes. Operations are expected to begin in July 2026. The facility will also include integrated coating, converting, and local product development, enabling faster collaboration and shorter lead times for customers.

The company noted that solvent-free adhesive systems reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and odors compared with traditional processes, supporting more sustainable production. Locating in Columbia allows ATP to be closer to key customers, improving supply chain security and enabling more efficient distribution.

What people are saying

In a recent quote, Dirk Henke, Managing Director and U.S. Leader of ATP North America, said, “Establishing the ATP North America business and building our first U.S. manufacturing facility is a strategic move to accelerate ATP's growth in the United States. ATP is recognized across Europe and Asia for delivering high-performance, solvent-free adhesive tapes. By pairing ATP's German and Swiss engineering heritage—advanced coating know-how and process discipline—with American manufacturing in West Columbia, South Carolina, we'll offer shorter lead times, a more secure supply chain, and local collaboration from trials to scale using solvent-free adhesive systems.”

Daniel Heini, CEO, ATP Adhesives, added, “Launching ATP North America and building our first U.S. solvent free facility is a major milestone in the company's global growth story. ATP is recognized across Europe and Asia for delivering high-performance, solvent-free adhesive tapes. With a North American hub and manufacturing in Columbia, we will bring that same innovation and reliability closer to customers in the U.S.”
