Moog Inc. has opened a new electromechanical actuation manufacturing facility in East Aurora, New York. The company, which designs and manufactures high-performance precision motion and fluid control systems, invested in the facility to support space and defense programs and has created new employment opportunities in the region.
The 120,000-square-foot facility brings together development, production, and testing of electromechanical, electrohydrostatic, and electrohydraulic actuation systems in one location. It includes areas for actuation assembly and testing, thermal and vibration environmental testing, and expanded inspection and office space. Moog expects to begin manufacturing flight hardware this fall, with testing of production builds already underway.
Construction is also in progress on additional hydraulic actuation assembly and test areas, as well as a development lab. The integrated layout of the facility is designed to streamline manufacturing by reducing process hand-offs, improving both product quality and lead times. Moog’s expanded capabilities will support several national programs, including vehicles for the U.S. Navy, Stratolaunch’s Talon A, United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket, and NASA’s Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft.
