Delta Star Inc. invests $35M to expand power transformer manufacturing facility in Virginia
Delta Star Inc. has announced plans to expand its power transformer manufacturing facility in Lynchburg, Virginia. The company, which produces power transformers and mobile substations for the electrical grid, will invest $35 million in the project, creating 300 new jobs.
The expansion will increase Delta Star’s manufacturing capacity to help meet rising global demand. The Lynchburg facility, originally established in 1962, sits on a large site that houses the company’s headquarters and has long served as a hub for the design and production of mobile power solutions. These products can be deployed quickly to critical areas, enhancing the resilience of the electrical grid.
Delta Star will enhance its technological capabilities as part of the expansion, enabling the company to further evolve its product offerings and manufacturing efficiency.
Support for the project includes a $2.3 million grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, approved by Governor Glenn Youngkin. Additionally, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, City of Lynchburg, and the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance collaborated to secure the project. Workforce development assistance will be provided through the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, which offers fully customized recruitment and training services at no cost to the company.
