An OSHA investigation has discovered that Custom Container Solutions exposed employees to a range of safety and health hazards. The company, which manufactures steel containers including dumpsters, has been cited for two willful, three repeat, 23 serious and two other-than-serious violations. The investigation, which began in March as part of OSHA’s site-specific targeting program, determined that Custom Container Solutions failed to provide welders with PPE, did not establish respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs or train workers properly, and refused to complete assessments for personal protective equipment. In addition, the company improperly stored flammable materials, refused to establish an energy control program, and failed to implement machine guarding on metal working machinery. For these offenses, the company faces $484,401 in penalties.
In a recent quote, OSHA Area Director Mary Reynolds said, “Safety and health should be a core value in every workplace, and Custom Container Solutions is placing its workers in jeopardy by disregarding required protections. They must correct the hazards identified before someone gets hurt.”
