An OSHA investigation has determined that Kenric Steel LLC willfully exposed workers to safety and health hazards. The steel fabrication company was cited for four willful and seven serious violations. These violations include failing to inspect overhead cranes every year, not training newly hired workers on the importance of chemical safety, failing to properly label containers and maintain safety data sheets for chemicals, and not installing circuit breakers to operate lights. The company faces $348,683 in penalties.
In a recent quote, OSHA Area Director Paula Dixon-Roderick said, “A few months before our inspection, Kenric Steel hired a safety consultant who identified multiple safety and health hazards at the Millville fabrication shop. However, the company failed to correct the hazards, which is unacceptable. Employers are legally obligated to provide a safe and healthful workplace for all workers.”
