Albemarle Corporation has announced plans to build a lithium hydroxide Mega-Flex facility in Chester County, South Carolina. The company will invest $1.3 billion into the new plant, which is expected to produce 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium hydroxide a year with the potential to produce up to 100,000 metric tons annually.
