Edwards, a division of the Atlas Copco Group, will be opening two U.S. plants to help support the North American semiconductor market. According to Atlas Copco, the Arizona facility, which opened in November, produces vacuum pumps, while the Massachusetts, which will be open later this month, will manufacture cryopumps.
In a recent quote, Geert Follens, Business Area President Vacuum Technique, said, “We are increasing our presence in the US to be close to our customers, who are committing large investments in US semiconductor manufacturing. Agile operations, increased capacity and local-for-local supply are essential to supporting our customers, and our Chandler and Haverhill investments will play a key role in the continued growth of safe, productive and environmentally sustainable chip manufacturing in North America.”
