Honeywell introduced Uvex HydroShield anti-fog lens coating, a technology that delivers up to 60 times longer fog-free protection and two times greater scratch resistance than competitive anti-fog coated products. The coating’s anti-fog performance improves worker safety and productivity while its anti-scratch properties extend lens life.

Available on four Uvex eye protection products, HydroShield coating is permanently bonded to the lens and will not wear off after extended wear or repeated cleanings.

Uvex HydroShield coating is available on select Uvex products including Genesis, Genesis XC, and Protégé safety glasses and Stealth safety goggles, all of which meet the highest standards for optical clarity and impact resistance, including the ANSI Z87.1-2010 and CSA Z94.3 standards. Genesis, Genesis XC and Protégé also meet the U.S. military ballistic impact resistance requirements for eyewear (MIL-PRF-31013, CLAUSE 3.5.1.1). Additional Uvex products will be available with HydroShield coating throughout 2015.

HydroShield was tested under the most stringent anti-fog standard in the world, the European EN 166/168 standard for personal eye protection. Under this test, a lens is soaked in water for two hours to simulate the cumulative moisture that lenses are subjected to over time from sweat, washing and work environments. After the lens dries, it is sprayed with steam and the time-to-fog is measured. During the test, HydroShield coated lenses remained fog-free for more than two minutes, outperforming lenses with competitive coatings, which fogged in a median time of less than two seconds.
