Oh, the places you’ll go in pursuit of maintenance and reliability improvements

April 7, 2022
Thomas Wilk says if your company is OK with event travel again, here’s some great options.

Remember the Omicron variant? The one that played havoc with so many of our personal and professional plans as recently as a few short weeks ago?

Thankfully the worst of it seems to be behind us, and many of us can look forward to getting together this spring. Each of these events is highly recommended, and if you attend, be sure to say hello to the editors while you’re there!

SMRP 2022 Symposium, May 3-5, Denver, CO. This year’s symposium brings together professionals in the maintenance and reliability industries for two days of education sessions, networking opportunities, and in-depth facility tours, plus keynote and closing presentations. Plant Services leadership columnist Tom Moriarty, PE, CMRP will present on “3 Common Leadership Challenges and Their Solutions,” and Plant Services Managing Editor Anna Townshend will be a speaker on the “Skilled Trade Recruiting/Retention/Development” panel. Leading Reliability, May 10-12, Clearwater, FL. Jointly sponsored by UE Systems, Eruditio, and RDI Technologies, this event provides a holistic program of the latest in maintenance training and technologies as well as leadership best practices. Last year’s program featured an outstanding keynote by a former VP of Disney’s Magic Kingdom on the many ways that a culture of reliability impacted customer satisfaction at the happiest place on earth. Also, the closing beach BBQ is one of a kind. Register

ARC Industry Forum, June 6-9, Orlando, FL. Rescheduled from February, this event is focused on practical applications of digital technology to streamline plant operations. Many of the sessions include four or more case studies of plant teams that achieved significant operational improvements. This year’s theme is Accelerating Industrial Digital Transformation and Sustainability, and there is an online option to attend from June 20-23. Register

EASA 2022 Convention, June 26-28, St. Louis, MO. The annual conference of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association heads to Mound City this year. The focus of the event is on delivering industry information and education to companies that repair or perform regular service or maintenance on electric motors, pumps, drives, controls, gearboxes, or other rotating machinery. I especially like the format: education sessions in the mornings, and networking at the solutions expo in the afternoons. Register

Reliable Plant Conference and Exhibition, July 25-28, Orlando, FL. The Reliable Plant conference is one of my personal favorites. Every year that I’ve attended, I’ve met new industry professionals eager to share their knowledge. Each track will include a workshop on Monday followed by sessions that dive more deeply into key topics. Register
