It's Just Business: Manufacturing moves from Siemens, Regal Rexnord, Trumpf, and Molex
Acquisition: Trumpf has signed an agreement to acquire Mate Precision Technologies, with Mate continuing to operate independently under its existing brand, management and international teams. The acquisition expands Trumpf’s punching and bending tooling portfolio to support a broad range of machine brands while strengthening its presence in North America and creating new opportunities for Mate through Trumpf’s global reach. In a recent quote, Mate Precision Technologies president & CEO Joe Schneider said, “With Trumpf behind us, we will be able to grow faster and support our customers in more places than we could alone.”
Partnership: Regal Rexnord has formed a strategic collaboration with Fanuc to deliver an integrated collaborative robotics solution that combines Thomson linear motion technology with Boston Gear gearheads, Huco couplings, and Kollmorgen motors and software. The solution allows Fanuc CRX users to deploy the Thomson Movotrak Cobot Transfer Unit as an external linear axis, with features including extended cobot reach, collision detection, and simplified setup through a co-developed plug-in interface. In a recent quote, Emily Kern, president of Regal Rexnord’s Linear Motion Division, said, “Adding an external axis transport layer to a six-axis cobot opens new avenues for productivity, innovation, and profitability for our customers.”
Divestiture: Prima Industrie has agreed to sell its electronics unit, Prima Electro, to Synov as it focuses its business on sheet metal machinery and integrated manufacturing solutions under the Prima Power brand. Prima Electro, which has about 170 employees and production operations in Italy and China, will complement Synov’s existing offering for mission-critical embedded systems. In a recent quote, Giovanni Negri, CEO of Prima Industrie, said, “We are confident that Prima Electro will thrive with Synov, who share a strong engineering culture and a clear plan to scale.”
Investment: Molex has made a strategic investment in CAEPlus Inc. to accelerate development of the company’s BoundaryCool active liquid cooling technology for AI and high-performance computing data centers. The collaboration will advance a cooling platform designed to improve heat transfer and reduce chip temperatures while remaining compatible with existing data center architectures, with Molex retaining exclusive licensing for applying the technology to its pluggable I/O portfolio. In a recent quote, Milad Bashirzadeh, founder and CEO, CAEPlus, said, “CAEPlus was founded to address the rapid pace of change in data center cooling requirements by enabling an entirely new class of active liquid cooling solutions.”
Rebranding: Brightly Software has completed its transition into the Siemens brand as Asset Management Software, following its 2022 acquisition by Siemens Smart Infrastructure. The business will integrate its asset management capabilities with Siemens’ software and infrastructure portfolio to help organizations improve asset performance, maintenance, lifecycle management, and operational efficiency, while Siemens is also expanding its Asset Essentials solution to the UK. In a recent quote, Don Kurelich, CEO and head of asset management software, Siemens, said, “Siemens’ legacy of innovation and service excellence will build on a foundation of data, AI and accelerated software development to deliver tangible value to the industries, infrastructure and communities in which we live and work.”
