DMG Mori to spend $40.5 million on new factory, R&D site in Illinois
DMG Mori Federal Services, Inc., a supplier of metal-cutting tools based in Germany, announced February 24 that it would build a new $40.5 factory and R&D center in the Chicago, Illinois metro area. The German manufacturer of machining tools and the Illinois governor’s office said the new 90,000-square-foot facility would create 74 new jobs in the area.
The facility will produce optomechanical scanners and metal additive-manufactured components and host a dedicated workforce development, in association with the City Colleges of Chicago. In a statement, Juan Salgado, Chancellor of Chicago’s City Colleges, said the partnership would expose students to “cutting-edge” manufacturing.
