Wieland Chase announced January 20 that it had officially broken ground on a new $27 million brass and copper ammunition ordnance wire factory in Montpelier, Ohio. According to a company statement, the 17,000 square foot site will create an estimated 43 jobs in the Northwestern region of the state when it begins production in 2027.

Company leadership noted the expansion would be one of the first to take advantage of recent policy announcements from the White House meant to reshore U.S. production of finished and semi-finished copper wire. The company is also currently in the process of spending $600 million to build another factory for semi-finished copper products in East Alton, Illinois, and is spending an undisclosed amount to build a Shelbyville, Kentucky recycling center.

“This is more than just breaking ground on a building; it’s about our commitment to American manufacturing,” said Thomas Christie, President of Wieland Chase. “Our goal is to position Wieland Chase as a significant supplier of brass wire in North America and to expand Wieland’s capabilities to service the full breadth of products to the ammunition market. (…) Our team here in Northwest Ohio is exceptional, and this expansion is a testament to their skill, dedication, and commitment to manufacturing excellence.”
