Bad Boy Mowers Co. announced December 10 that it would spend $10.5 million to build a new tractor factory in Monroeville, Alabama. In a statement, the company said the site would create 35-50 new jobs, with production planned to start in the first quarter of 2026, and noted the plant will go up 90 miles from the Port of Mobile.

The Alabama governor’s office, citing Mike Colquett of the Monroe County Economic Development Authority, said the new plant would produce about 9,000 tractors a year. The company statement adds the site will house tractor assembly, mower component storage and cross-docking as well as some parts distribution operations.

“Bad Boy is thrilled to enter the Monroeville community,” said Peter Ballantyne, CEO of Bad Boy. “Our tractor line continues to grow in popularity, so it’s the perfect time for us to expand production. We couldn’t think of a better place to grow our operation, and we’re excited to build our relationship with the city of Monroeville.”

“Bad Boy Mowers setting up shop in Monroeville with this $10.5 million investment is a big win for Monroe County and for rural Alabama,” said Alabama Gov. Ivey. “These 50 new, good jobs will benefit local families and continue momentum for this community. Bad Boy came to the right place – Alabama’s workforce is ready to get to work and get the job done.”
