Cornerstone Building Brands to spend $4.9 million, expand Virginia construction products plant
Cornerstone Building Brands announced December 4 that it would spend $4.9 billion to expand its existing Rocky Mount, Virginia window and door manufacturing plant by 50 jobs. In a joint statement with the Virginia governor’s office, company leadership said the new investment would increase capacity and meet construction demand.
Cornerstone, founded in 2018 through a merger with NCI Building Systems and Ply Gem Building Products, didn’t specify what capabilities or product lines the expansion would add to the plant. In addition to windows and doors the company currently makes in its Rocky Mount facility, the company also produces vinyl windows and doors, vinyl siding, stone veneer, metal roofing, metal wall systems and accessories. According to local news site Virginia Business, Cornerstone Building Brands has about 100 manufacturing locations and more than 100 warehouses.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin approved a $100,000 grant from the Commonwealth Opportunity fund to assist the project, and the state will also help support recruitment and training through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
