Race Ramps Michigan auto equipment factory damaged by fire
A fire broke out at Race Ramps LLC’s manufacturing site in Escanaba, Michigan, according to a press release from the Escanaba Department of Public Safety. According to the Department, nobody was hurt in the incident, as employees were safely evacuated and emergency personnel reported no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In a statement on its website, Race Ramps, which makes ramps for trailers and towing cars, said that damage to the plant will likely affect plant operations.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss, and incredibly grateful that all our team members are safe,” read the unsigned statement. “We are doing everything we can to restore operations and keep you informed along the way.
The fire broke out shortly after noon on Friday, October 23, at Race Ramps’ Upper Peninsula factory on the North side of Escanaba. First responders, encountering the heavy smoke and size of the location, called in firefighters from the Escanaba, Ford River, Bark River, and Gladstone City fire departments to contain the fire after several hours.
