Mars invests $2B to expand food and pet care manufacturing facilities in the United States

Aug. 19, 2025
The investment includes a new $240 million Nature’s Bakery facility in Utah and a $450 million Royal Canin site in Ohio.

Mars, Incorporated has announced plans to expand its food and pet care manufacturing operations across the United States. The company, which produces brands such as M&M'S, PEDIGREE, SNICKERS, and Royal Canin, is investing $2 billion into U.S.-based manufacturing through the end of 2026, creating hundreds of new jobs.

The investment supports the launch of a $240 million Nature’s Bakery facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, which will open with more than 230 new positions. The 339,000-square-foot facility will significantly expand the brand’s production capacity, with the ability to manufacture nearly one billion snack bars annually.

Earlier this year, Mars also opened a $450 million Royal Canin® dry pet food facility in Lewisburg, Ohio—the brand’s largest dry food site globally—which is expected to add up to 270 new jobs

What people are saying

In a recent quote, Claus Aagaard, CFO, Mars, Incorporated, said, “This investment is about building a stronger, more resilient business in the U.S. – one that can grow with our consumers, deliver for our partners, and create lasting economic impact in the communities where we operate. The U.S. is our biggest and most important market, and a key engine of growth for the long term – not only through our legacy manufacturing footprint but also through the expansion of strategic acquisitions like Nature's Bakery, which is already scaling quickly. That's why we've committed $6 billion to U.S. manufacturing in the last five years, with another $2 billion planned by the end of next year.”
