The company chose the Iron County site over a competing location in Nevada due to strong local support and strategic transportation access.

Hive Plastics has announced plans to build a new plastic products manufacturing facility in Iron County, Utah. The company, which manufactures large-scale plastic products, is investing more than $12.6 million in the project and expects to create up to 60 new jobs with wages above the county average.

The new 23,300-square-foot facility will be located in the Iron Springs Project Area, a designated development zone supported by the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA). Hive Plastics cited strategic access to the I-15 corridor, newly added inland port rail infrastructure, and strong local support as key factors in selecting the Utah location over a competing site in Mesquite, Nevada.

The facility will rely on the area's expanded rail network to support bulk shipments as the company scales operations. To support the project, UIPA approved a post-performance property tax rebate equal to 10 percent of Hive Plastics’ annual property tax liability for up to 25 years, contingent on performance benchmarks.

The project converts previously vacant land into a productive manufacturing site, boosting the local economy while retaining 90 percent of the new tax base within Iron County.

What people are saying

In a recent quote, Joe Brough, owner, Hive Plastics, said, “Iron County offers the right mix of infrastructure, workforce, and location. The new inland port rail facilities in Iron Springs will give us long-term logistical advantages, especially as we scale up operations and rely more on bulk shipments.”

Ben Hart, executive director of the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA), added, “This is a smart, strategic win for Iron County. It turns undeveloped land into economic opportunity, brings in a new employer, and reinforces Iron Springs as a destination for advanced manufacturing in rural Utah.”
