Rivian has announced plans to build a 1.2 million-square-foot electric vehicle supplier park in Normal, Illinois. The company, which manufactures electric vehicles including the R1 and commercial vans, has invested nearly $120 million in the project and will create nearly 100 new direct jobs.
Construction of the supplier park is currently underway and is expected to be completed in 2026. The facility will allow Rivian to co-locate key suppliers that produce components for its electric vehicles. These components will be transported across Highway 150 to Rivian’s main facility, where they will be assembled into finished vehicles.
Hosting suppliers nearby is expected to strengthen Rivian’s supply chain by increasing consistency and continuity in the manufacturing process.
The project is supported by a $16 million incentive package, including a Reimagining Energy and Vehicles (REV Illinois) tax incentive valued at $5 million over 20 years. The remaining incentives primarily consist of capital grant support. The agreement includes a commitment to create a minimum of 93 full-time jobs and invest $119.6 million.

In a recent quote, RJ Scaringe, founder and CEO, Rivian, said, “We are excited to see this supplier park coming together so quickly. This will be a key enabler to increasing production at the plant in 2026 when we start to build R2 in addition to R1 and our commercial vans. We are grateful to Governor Pritzker and the state's partnership, and are looking forward to welcoming suppliers at the new space.”
Governor JB Pritzker, added, “In Illinois, we aren't just making electric vehicles: we are creating an entire ecosystem – attracting investments, bolstering our workforce, and strengthening the EV manufacturing supply chain. Rivian's investment will attract suppliers from across the globe to invest in Illinois and continue to create good-paying jobs, providing Illinois with the competitive edge to thrive in the clean energy economy.”
