Solx invests $64M to open solar panel manufacturing facility in Puerto Rico
Solx, a domestically owned and operated solar module manufacturer, has announced plans to open a solar panel manufacturing facility in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The company, which produces clean solar energy solutions for the North American renewables industry, will invest $64 million into the project, which will create over 600 jobs across logistics, supply chain, and supporting industries.
The facility is being constructed on the site of the former Hewlett-Packard location and will occupy a significant area in Aguadilla. Phase one of the project includes an initial investment of $25 million. Once operational, the facility will feature a semi-autonomous assembly line capable of producing 1 gigawatt of solar panels annually.
The Solx Puerto Rico (SPR) facility will draw from local labor and aims to build a skilled workforce to support long-term clean energy development on the island. Solx received strong support from Governor Jenniffer González Colón for the project, which is positioned to boost Puerto Rico’s energy independence and economic growth.
