Mid South Extrusion invests $12.5M to expand polyethylene manufacturing facility in Louisiana
Mid South Extrusion has announced plans to expand its polyethylene film manufacturing facility in Monroe, Louisiana. The company, which manufactures flexible film and bags for industrial and consumer packaging, is investing $12.5 million into the project and will create 12 new jobs at its Jackson Street facility.
The project includes the addition of two new polyethylene extrusion lines, increasing production capacity for the thin, lightweight plastic sheeting used to seal and protect a wide range of packaged goods. To accommodate the expansion, Mid South Extrusion will install new manufacturing equipment, construct new raw material storage silos, and add a new HVAC system. The facility will also be modified to support the weight and height requirements of the new lines.
The increased capacity will enable the company to serve customers across sectors such as agriculture, food and beverage, e-commerce, and industrial packaging with greater speed, consistency, and flexibility. Equipment installation and facility upgrades are scheduled to begin in November, with operations expected to start in early 2026.
To support the project, Louisiana Economic Development is providing a $150,000 performance-based grant for equipment installation and acquisition. The company is also expected to participate in the state’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the expansion will result in 26 indirect jobs, for a total of 38 potential new jobs in the Northeast Region.
