An explosion at a kite string manufacturing facility has left three people dead. The incident occurred early Friday morning at the Bareilly facility, located in Uttar Pradesh, India. According to ETV Bharat, two of the victims were pronounced dead on the scene, while the third victim passed away at the hospital while receiving treatment. The victims have been identified as Atiq Raza Khan, the owner of the factory, and his employees Faizan and Sartaj.

The New Indian Express is reporting that the explosion occurred when sulfur, potash and glass were being mixed for coating kite strings. Police are still investigating the incident.

According to The Opinion, the explosion was so loud and powerful that it panicked local residents. Witnesses told the media outlet that they had concerns about dangerous facilities like this one operating in residential areas. They believe that this tragic situation could have been avoided if the government had reacted sooner.
