Mobis North America has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Toledo, Ohio. The automotive supplier will invest $13.8 million into the project, creating 185 new jobs in the process. The 285,000-square-foot plant will be used to assemble battery systems for electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and production is expected to begin in 2024. To help support the project, Mobis has received assistance from a number of organizations, including JobsOhio, the Regional Growth Partnership, Lucas County and the City of Toledo. In addition, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority has approved a Job Creation Tax Credit for the company.
In a recent quote, Dong Hee (Danny) Son, General Manager for Mobis, said, “We’ve been manufacturing in Toledo, Ohio for nearly 20 years, and we are excited to continue to invest in the community with this new battery plant. The state-of-the-art facility will bring 185 good-paying, upskilled jobs to the area, and be a driving force in automotive electrification here in the Midwest.”
