AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and SME have formed a partnership to help solve manufacturing workforce challenges in North America. The partnership is designed to utilize the strengths and resources of both organizations in an effort to better the industry by focusing on key areas, including workforce development, educational products, and services and student events.
As part of this collaboration, Greg Jones, the former AMT vice president of Smartforce Development, will become the director of strategic programs and partnerships at SME’s workforce development team. Additionally, AMT’s education products and services, including Certified Manufacturing Technology Sales Engineer (CMTSE) program, the MT Sales Fundamentals program, and additional AMT e-learning products, will be owned and operated by SME as part of its Tooling U-SME workforce development area.
In a recent quote, Douglas K. Woods, president and chief executive officer at AMT, said, “Workforce development continues to be one of the most important factors affecting our members and the manufacturing community, so it makes sense to combine our forces in this area to scale solutions. Greg Jones has dedicated his career to this effort and now joins forces with Jeannine Kunz and her team at SME to accelerate their collective impact.”
