ABB will strengthen its partnership with the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith (UAFS) by investing $1 million into the institution to launch a center of excellence in advanced manufacturing. This funding will focus on postsecondary education and feature a curriculum to prepare students for a career in advanced manufacturing, engineering, automation, design process, and technology for manufacturing. UAFS’ workforce development programs are available to a wide variety of people, including students, adult learners, displaced workers and veterans. These programs are designed to help participants develop the skills necessary to compete in today’s industrial labor market.
In a recent quote, Jesse Henson, President of ABB NEMA Motors Division, said, “In order to compete on a global scale, U.S. manufacturers like ABB must invest in a continuous pipeline of technically skilled talent. Driven by our partnership with UAFS, we are rethinking the way communities approach career and technical education in the K-12 and university systems to build strong relationships with businesses and customers.”
