Tesla investing $770 million to expand Austin plant

CNBC is reporting that Tesla will be spending $770 million to expand its Austin, Texas, facility. Tesla’s filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration shows that the company’s expanded facility will include “battery cell testing and manufacturing, cathode and drive unit manufacturing, and a die shop.” According to the Austin Business Journal, the planned expansion could increase Tesla’s facility to 5.6 million square feet.
