The manufacturing industry weighs in on what they expect from President-Elect Trump

Nov. 7, 2024
Manufacturing groups including NAM, UAW, and AED go on the record quickly on what they expect from the next U.S. presidential administration.

Donald Trump was won the 2024 U.S. presidential election, and industry is already responding.

Several key industry groups have gone on the record with their policy requests for the second Trump administration. These recommendations follow two successful manufacturing initiatives driven by the Biden administration, the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Key comments include the following.

Jay Timmons, President and CEO, National Association of Manufacturers: "We believe that we can build on the successes of our previous work together to roll back burdensome regulations, unleash American energy security, power the economy of the future with an all-of-the-above energy strategy and restore the dignity of manufacturing work."

Brian P. McGuire, President & CEO, Associated Equipment Distributors: "Together, Republicans and Democrats have the responsibility to maintain a tax code that fosters growth, to invest in our infrastructure and rural communities and maintaining and nurturing the next generation of skilled workers."

Shawn Fain, President, United Auto Workers: "It's time for Washington, DC to put up or shut up, no matter the party, no matter the candidate. Will our government stand with the working class, or keep doing the bidding of the billionaires? That’s the question we face today."
