If you have not heard a grass roots effort is underway around the country to dispel the negative images and stigmas the general public has about manufacturing on October 5th.
Companies around the US are hosting open houses, plant tours and I personally am helping set up two Salute to Manufacturing events. One will be held for a breakfast in Greensboro, NC at the JobLink Center on 303 North Raleigh Street from 8-10am. Then from 12-2pm on October 5th, we will Saluting Manufacturing at the High Point, NC JobLink Center.
These events are quickly growing into major affairs that will have Piedmont Region Manufacturing, 3 area mayors, local media and television coverage and also we are going to have a parade of talent join us from the recent CNC JOBS NOW accelerated 17 week machinist class from GTCC joining us.
We know that Caterpillar is planning on attending and is hoping to fill some of their 90 plus open positions. Also Deere Hitachi, who may be adding a new factory of 350 plus workers are hoping to join us as well.
While the financial and service sectors of the economy are still in decline, the manufacturing sector has been on the rise despite that the general public still believe that manufacturing jobs are the 4 Ds.
Dull, Dangerous, Dirty and Dumb.
Those images do not reflect reality that is why the 150 events planned for Manufacturing Day October 5th are so important. Learn more details at http://www.mfgday.com/
