Watson: I have been benchmarking ever since I was big enough to lift my leg high enough, Holmes. I didn’t realize it was a valuable Energy Efficiency Tool until I met you. Perhaps dogs are more suitable for that job than people.

Holmes: Sorry to disappoint you Watson but being from France I understand that you occasionally have trouble with some of our idioms. According to the EPA’s Energy Star Program, in the energy world, “benchmarking is the process of comparing your energy performance to something similar”.
