Studies show STEM market is mixed in Chicago area

Studies are indecisive about whether STEM occupations are hard to come by in Chicago.

Studies show that analyzed advertised occupational openings in the first quarter of 2013 are indecisive about whether the Chicago area suffers from a shortage of jobs in the science and engineering portion of STEM.

An average of 44 days is what it takes to fill a position in STEM, whereas a non-STEM occupation only takes 43 days to fill. STEM employers require at least a bachelor's degree in one of the four fields.

STEM openings that require less education advertised six days longer than non-STEM jobs.
