Today, food and software are very big, but very separate pieces of our lives. There is a lot of potential in combining them.

Holiday traditions are ever-evolving, and technology might soon play a big part in how we celebrate Thanksgiving. I do not consider myself a culinary wonder, but I might be able to wow my holiday guests if the secret to my meal is a 3D printer.

According to Hod Lipson from Columbia University: “Today, food and software are very big, but very separate pieces of our lives. There is a lot of potential in combining them.”

Imagine a Thanksgiving feast featuring personalized mash potatoes with custom levels of vitamins and minerals; a "turkey" 3D printed from insect protein; or side dishes that cater to guests with allergies. Sounds like a holiday dinner like mom used to make.
