Engineers and the STEM fields are often plagued by stereotypes that hurt the industry and stop younger generations from exploring science, technology, engineering, and math. Tell me if any of these myths sound familiar. All engineers are introverted. They lack creativity and are difficult to work with. And, my personal favorite, all engineers are geeks.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Engineers and others who pursue work in the STEM fields do not conform to a mold, and the sooner we destroy these outdated notions, the sooner we will begin fixing the skill shortage.
