10 celebrities you didn't know had engineering degrees

Dec. 11, 2015

What should an engineer look like?

What do Rowan Atkinson, Ashton Kutcher, and Cindy Crawford have in common? That's right; they all studied engineering. Not what you were expecting? I'm sure if I asked a room filled with people to name a few famous engineers, most people would name Bill Nye or Neil Armstrong. Is that because they have gained fame from the STEM fields or do they better represent our current idea of what en engineer should look like?

Did you know that Tom Landry studied industrial engineer at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston?  Did you know that Herbie Hancock has a double major in electrical engineering and music from the Grinnell College? Did you know that Teri Hatcher studied mathematics and engineering at De Anza College in Cupertino?
