DIY: Make your own cannon from a roll of paper

Aug. 4, 2016

Paper might not be the first material that comes to mind when exploring artillery and armor, but maybe it should be.

Paper might not be the first material that comes to mind when exploring artillery and armor, but maybe it should be. It is rumored that ancient Chinese armies used armor made from paper, and this homemade cannon is constructed of rolled paper and epoxy. While the long-term durability of these paper products is questionable, there is no denying the power of this mini cannon.

According to Popular Mechanics: "YouTuber NightHawkInLight, who has designed everything from fire tornadoes to airsoft miniguns, built the cannon mostly by taking a roll of paper and rolling it up extra tight. He also added a plug to the back and drilled out a fuse hole, but there's not a whole ton of work required here. All it takes is a little black powder and you're off to the races."
