DIY: Mousetrap-powered car

If you are looking for an alternative energy source to power your car, then a mousetrap might be the answer. A common middle-school project, the toy mousetrap car features a string that is tied to the arm of the mousetrap and also wound around the axle. As the mousetrap car is released, the mousetrap pulls the string off of the axle, causing the wheels to turn and propel the vehicle forward. YouTuber The Backyard Scientist took this idea and ran with it, creating a life-sized model with functional steering.
